"We began researching church management
software systems several months ago. My initial lists included 100’s of
products. I narrowed the lists by visiting websites and sorting the most
promising ones onto a shorter list by cost. In our search for a church
management software system, it was important for us to find a product that
would allow us to change wording to match terms used by the United Methodist
Church, especially when entering categories of membership. Also very
simple items mattered to us, such as avoiding the archaic term “head of
household” and allowing a child to be labeled as the primary contact for a
family.
Ease of use was also a major consideration. After years (at a previous
church) of struggling to teach volunteers how to operate the cumbersome

system, we knew we needed a system that was easy to use or else doom the
staff to do all the work without help. I have sat through hours of

training, and I still had difficulty using it effectively. We were forever
trying to train volunteers to enter even the most basic information, but
most would hate the task enough to not work with it for long. After that
experience, I knew I wanted a program that was easy to use and that allowed
information to be accessed in a variety of methods (mouse, keyboard,
shortcuts, etc.). I know I will have no trouble training volunteers to use
Church Helpmate!
For us, the demo of Church
Helpmate sold the product….end of story. Perhaps a more accurate
statement is that trying the demo for Church Helpmate, after trying and
disliking the demos for half a dozen of your competitors, sold the product.
One can not demo your product without being impressed. Personally I
was so excited to finally find such an excellent answer to our needs that I
didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry while playing with the demo. We
were so sold on the Church Helpmate demo that we never even spoke with a
sales rep from your company prior to purchasing.
When creating a presence on the Internet, it is easy to create any
impression one wishes to portray about one’s company. Consequently, I had no
independent means of evaluating your company until after I purchased your
product. However, since then I have been very impressed and blessed. We have
received excellent follow-up since our purchase. I am grateful for the
assistance I have received and the kindness that has been shown to me both
through email and over the phone.
I want to thank you for the difference you have made in my ministry. I
was beginning to drown in handwritten notes and records. Finding information
about visitation or attendance or even keeping track of who was related to
whom was beginning to consume time needed for planning worship and caring
for my congregation. I was rapidly reaching a point of critical mass
in terms of what I could recall. Now I can open a file and easily see when a
parishioner was last in worship, when they last received a call, and I can
refresh my memory about our last conversation before I pick up the phone.
I am currently preparing reports for conference, and the information I need
is literally at my finger tips. Instead of praying for some way to
manage all the pieces of information I needed to track, I can now enter the
information so quickly that I have time for prayer, bible study, worship
preparation, and meaningful care of my congregation. Helpmate has
reduced the time that I feel like an office manager and returned my time and
energy to doing the ministry God called me to do. I can not thank you
enough, and I continue to give God thanks for you and your company in my
prayers as I use your program.
